“Heading Home” Takes on New Meaning for Orchestrate Healthcare

Carbondale, CO – March 8, 2013 — Innovating with “heart” leads to memorable donation for Orchestrate Healthcare in New Orleans.

“After a busy week at HIMSS, there is nothing better than heading home,” it was this comment that started Monika Martin, Marketing Director at Orchestrate Healthcare, on a path that would lead to a significant donation to two major New Orleans charities.

Orchestrate Healthcare unveiled a new, two-story booth at HIMSS this past week, providing additional space for the rapidly growing company to meet with existing and potential clients. And, this new booth needed new furniture.  “It’s always felt like a lost expense to rent furniture, and a bigger waste of resources to ship furniture,” said Charlie Cook, President of Orchestrate Healthcare. “We are always mindful of expenses to help mitigate passing any unnecessary costs onto our clients.”

The decision was made pre-HIMSS to purchase furniture, and donate it after the exhibition to a charitable organization. Logistics began to fall into place with the thought of “coming home”.  Reaching out to both New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity, and the Ronald Mc Donald House, Orchestrate Healthcare coordinated the donation to benefit local New Orleans families needing care. “Our team is very tight-knit – we feel like family.  ,” explains Mr Cook, “It is a great connection for our “business family” to know we are helping other families.”

Janet Goforth, Executive Director of the Ronald McDonald House, recalls the significance and timing of the donation, “We are overcome with joy and appreciation. Our families come to us needing nearby medical care, and they benefit from the familial atmosphere the house provides.  To have new furniture in our 18 room home helps so much with the positive environment.  We had recently decided to renovate our dining room into a conference room where families can meet with caregivers and other professional advisors in privacy.  We were not sure how to make this happen, but knew it was needed. This offer of a new conference table and chairs, just a few days after our decision, was incredible!”

Additionally, Wesley Griffin, Procurement Director with New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity, declared the donation of sofas and chairs “thrilling” for their organization. “Nothing feels better than seeing a deserving family move into their new home that volunteers have built. It’s truly a gift when something like this comes along.”

Heading home after a long week has never felt so good for the Orchestrate Healthcare team as after this donation, and families benefiting from the amazing work of the Ronald McDonald House and the New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity are able to feel a little bit more at home.  During HIMSS 2013, participants were challenged to be innovators in healthcare; at Orchestrate Healthcare, innovation came from the heart!

About the Ronald McDonald House

When families have traveled many miles to receive specialized medical care, looking for temporary accommodations in an unfamiliar place only adds to their stress and anxiety. The Ronald McDonald House not only offers them a place to stay, but a built-in support system where families help each other. Together, they face and overcome some of the most trying times in their lives.

The New Orleans Ronald McDonald House opened December 10, 1983, serving children and their families from 63 out of 64 parishes in Louisiana, many states across the country and all over the world.

About Habitat for Humanity

New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity (NOAHH) has been working in partnership with hard working, low-income families in New Orleans to build and finance new, safe, affordable homes since 1983. The program makes homeownership possible for families who are unable to qualify for traditional home loans but have a stable job, good or no credit, and the willingness to contribute 350 hours of sweat equity to the building of Habitat homes.

New Orleans continues to rebuild housing that was destroyed by the devastating flooding of Hurricane Katrina. NOAHH has become a beacon of hope in this rebuilding process by recruiting and deploying tens of thousands of volunteers to construct new homes in damaged, blighted neighborhoods.
